An incredibly tough native perennial succulent, Rock Pink or Fame Flower is an excellent choice for both rock gardens or container gardens. Being part of the purslanes family (related to portulaca or moss rose), it prefers full sun and dry, rocky soil in areas where it does not have to compete with larger, more aggressive plants. Rock pink is a small plant, rarely reaching more than 6 to 9 inches in height. Beautiful as a naturalized mass, the pinkish purple blooms on 8 inch stems open at noon and last only until mid afternoon. Blooms begin in late May and continue into August. A favorite of bees.
