Embassy Landscape Group, Inc. Wins Business Committee for the Arts Award for Medium Sized Business

Acting on former Mayor Kay Barnes’ 10,000 Rain Gardens initiative, students of the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) designed a 150-foot long bio-swale and garden for the Plaza’s Theis Park. Learning of their plans, Embassy Landscape Group, Inc. contacted the Art Institute and volunteered their assistance. Although spring is their busiest time of year, Embassy arrived for the garden’s planting in full force, bringing earth-moving equipment, tools for volunteers, landscape architects, work crews, and a spirit of fun. After several days of hard work, the Art Institute realized that the rain garden could not have happened without Embassy’s help and expertise. The company’s commitment to the project continued throughout the summer as Embassy provided pro bono watering services and consultation. Thanks to Embassy Landscape Group, Inc., the KCAI-Brush Creek Community Rain Garden will achieve numerous ecological and educational goals while creating a new site for public art in Kansas City.
